From Our Hives to Your Table

Welcome to Muetzel Mountain Apiaries.  We would love to share some of Western Pennsylvania’s most flavorful Honey with you.

We try to maintain a diverse offering of honey throughout the year.  Seasonal changes may limit the amount of a certain product but we pride ourselves in having honey year round for our customers.  We sell a variety of sizes of our Spring honey (wildflower) as well as our fall honey (Japanese Knotweed/Goldenrod) as well as some specials such as our Wowza-Hot Honey, Peach Tea Infused Honey, and Creamed Honey. Please Contact us for pricing and availability.  Also we supply various smaller honey jars that are excellent for wedding favors, shower favors or Christmas stocking stuffers.

We sell our honey at the Ambridge Farmers Market every Thursday from 4 till 7PM during the months of May through November.  We are also selling directly at our apiary as well as the following retail locations:

Beaver Super Market    – Beaver PA – The oldest and last independent supermarket in Beaver County, the Beaver Super Market carries a wide range of groceries and other supplies.

McConnells Farm Market – Aliquippa PA (Open Late June till Early November) – Selling our Honey as well as the area’s best produce.  The Peaches are spectacular!

“We got our engagement pictures back today and my fiance and I are in love with them. We aren’t very good in front of the camera but Rachel made us feel comfortable and the pictures came out looking amazing. We are so happy to have hired her for our wedding and we highly recommend Rachel for any of your photography needs. She is the best!” – Abigail Muetzel

Services

In addition to selling honey we also offer services such as removal of honey bee swarms, and ground bee nests.

If you have a honey bee swarm, which looks like the picture above, normally in a tree or on a building, please give us a call and we can remove the swarm and re-hive them in our home apiary.

Note that ground bees are not really bees – they are part of the wasp family.  For ground bees we can come out and dig up the nest and discard it.  There is a nominal charge of $60 for this service. Please contact us if you are in need of ground bee nest removal.

We do not remove honey bee hives from inside building walls, although we do have some contacts who handle this type of work so feel free to contact us for further information.  Please do not attempt to exterminate honey bees in building walls.  There are a number of reasons why NOT to do this, not the least of which is that if you do succeed in killing the bees (which is bad) you will now have an unattended beehive full of honey inside your wall.  This will attract rodents, and can also leak honey into your walls making a real mess.

About Us

Muetzel Mountain Apiaries is a small family run business located in Western Pennsylvania, Beaver County run by Darryl and Tricia Muetzel.

Where is Muetzel Mountain? Good question! – The name is a nod to Darryl’s dad, Don Muetzel, who passed away in Aug 2012. When our family decided to move back to Independence Township, Beaver County PA, we decided to build a house at the top of the hill next to Darryl’s parent’s house.  Don, who was always helping us with the construction, referred to it as “Muetzel Mountain”. We miss him terribly but we know he would be “all in” with this adventure if he was here!
